Leading the Way on Broadband
Charleston, WV—Governor Jim Justice and Republican Legislative leaders and candidates held a press conference today at the State Capitol to discuss their efforts to expand broadband as well as the next steps to ensuring that as many West Virginians as possible have reliable high-speed internet. This involves a $1 Billion investment in fiber optic broadband across the state.
State Senator Patricia Rucker has helped lead the charge on broadband expansion in West Virginia. “I am proud of my votes in the State Senate to promote the expansion of broadband services in our state, including the creation of the West Virginia Broadband Enhancement Council.”
She added, “For too long West Virginia has lagged behind in this area. Broadband makes a lot of things possible: remote learning, eCommerce, Telemedicine and working from home. This is a major investment in infrastructure for our state and one of the things I really like about it is that it taps into funding that will not increase taxes. I am proud to be part of the Republican leadership that is making this happen”.
