We must never forget why we have this three day weekend. Memorial Day is not just about cookouts it is the holiday dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the United States of America. And while we should enjoy the time spent with friends and loved ones we should remember why we are able to do jus that.
This Memorial Day, as we enjoy these precious moments, let us say a prayer for the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. They deserve our eternal gratitude. We need to dedicate ourselves to ensuring that their sacrifice wasn’t in vain.
As I have said in Memorial Days past: “Today we are facing battles on all fronts. The times we live in are volatile in the extreme. We need to come together to face the challenges ahead. It will take some sacrifice, but nothing can compare to the sacrifices made by the men and women who died to give us the opportunity to preserve our liberty and live free.”
Nothing has changed. The challenges remain. In fact, the challenges are even more daunting. Let’s work together to meet those challenges and find common ground for peaceful solutions to difficult problems. On this Memorial Day, and every day, that is what I am praying for.
