I am mourning the passing of my friend John Overington. He was the longest serving Delegate in the history of West Virginia. He served through a time when it was a tough job being a voice of reason in the legislature and he did so with dignity and an unwavering sense of honor. His contributions were felt well beyond his role in the legislature. The ways in which he served our community are so many it’s hard to know where to begin. He served on the boards of important organizations. He also was a mentor to countless individuals who aspired to make a difference in our community and that includes myself. He made a difference and will be missed. I miss him. My heart goes out to John’s wife JoAnn, the Overington family and to everyone whose life he touched. Rest in peace John. You lived a full and meaningful life and you did so with grace and passion.
